A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our lives in profound and unprecedented ways.

The families to whom we serve and minister have been extremely affected by this current situation.

Many of the Dunwoody Glen & Lacota Apartments’ families are supported by daily wage earners. This is the reason why most Hispanic people do not have the financial reserves to cover expenses in case of an emergency. In addition, due their status, most of the residents didn't get the Economic Impact Payment. Around half of the Hispanics whom we serve have told us that they or someone in their household has taken a pay cut, lost a job, or had a reduction in work hours because of the Covid-19 outbreak. Many are struggling to pay rent, pay bills and buy food. We have sought to help these families during the quarantine with the support of Dunwoody Baptist Church and wonderful volunteers. During the last several months, we have collected, packed and delivered over 400 bags with basic food items enabling us to help feed over 1000 people in the communities of Dunwoody Glen & Lacota Apartments. In addition, we have distributed bibles, meditation sheets and Christian tracks, has clearly been a blessing for over 150 families. We aim to continue this program of food distribution and Christian outreach beyond June, which is when Dunwoody Baptist Church support concludes. Accordingly, Spring of Peace needs your contributions to finance God’s continuing work in the communities where we are serving. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Dunwoody Baptist Church allow us to use their space in the Student Center where we storage all the food collected and donated with the help of many volunteers. Many people from the church order or went to the grocery store to buy the items and brought them to the collection center.

It was a tremendous job. Other people donated money which allow us to get bulks of food from a local wholesaler which in turn of see our efforts started to donating us much more of the items that we intended to buy.
